With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I have been doing this fun little craft in my speech sessions!

Materials:

red, yellow, and black construction paper
googly eyes
black pipe cleaner
glue
scissors
black marker
little speech sound cards

Steps:

1.
I printed off the heart template below on cardstock and cut them out.
Then I traced four per construction paper page and cut out.
For one bee, you’ll need 2 yellow, 2 black and 2 red hearts.

2.
Layer the yellow and black hearts overlapping and alternating to create the bee’s body and glue. Attach the red hearts on either side as wings.

3.
Fold the black pipe cleaner in half and tape behind the bee’s head for antennae. Then glue the eyes onto the face and draw a smile with a black marker.

4.
Next, print little pictures with words targeting the child’s speech sound goal and cut. Glue onto the wings. I printed my speech sound words on pink paper for added festive fun. As the child glues each word, have them practice saying it 5 times! Put into phrases or sentences if the child is successful at the word level.

Happy Valentine’s Day, friends!
